21 September, There was a buzz at Plaza Singapura over the F1 weekend. On display were Renault’s range of turbocharged vehicles, including their mental Megane R.S. hot hatch.

Renault F1 Team driver, the ‘Honey Badger’, Daniel Ricciardo stepped away from the pits, to mingle with fans, in a highly-anticipated Meet-&-Greet session.

Braving the hazy conditions, courtesy of Indonesia, fans waited up to 3 hours to meet the Formula 1 star for pictures and autographs. A few lucky fans were also allowed a candid Q&A session with the Australian driver; where he shared on pre-race superstitions and rituals which F1 drivers are famously known for. Vaguely, I remember an Italian driver who famously would not allow anyone to touch his car once he is strapped in, and who insisted his car to only be in the right garage when at the pits. Daniel on the other hand remarked that he did not believe in such superstitions. His positivity is contagious. In-fact, the Australian smiles a lot, and is known as the biggest smiler in the pit.

The sporting person that he is, Daniel even engaged in a game of charades, attempting to guess famous Singaporean delicacies.

Renault, which has also come on-board as a supporting partner for the President's Challenge, and sponsored 20 children who are the beneficiaries of the President's Challenge FaithActs programmes (a community care service agency serving the needs of children, at-risk youths, disadvantaged families and seniors in Queenstown). 20 beneficiaries were invited on stage to receive autographed merchandise from Daniel, where he even held a short motivational sharing session with them.

Kalen Chin had a chance to race against the F1 legend in a race simulator. The thirteen year-old clocked fastest lap timing against more than 900 participants, to earn the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

The season is not over yet. All the best Honey Badger! We want to see your drink from your shoe!
