Mercedes-Benz hosted driving events from the 4 – 12 November 2016, providing the opportunity for participants to acquire the skill of driving competently and safely in a wide range of Mercedes-Benz models. As a leader and innovator in vehicle safety, Mercedes-Benz also held the First Gear Program exclusively for young drivers and new licencees.
Oneshift had the opportunity to tag along, and had a go at some of the training. Led by Australian motor racing driver Peter Hackett and a qualified team of professional safety driving instructors, the comprehensive programs assisted participants in gaining an acute understanding of the Mercedes-Benz safety philosophy and the skills to enable greater safety on the road. The programs equipped participants to handle the vehicle safely and to respond appropriately in critical driving situations.
Featured during the Mercedes-Benz Driving Events were exercises on evasive ABS braking, performance steering and skid control as well as, performance handling courses.
The final exercises were exhilarating rides around the course in the Mercedes-AMG C 63 S and Mercedes-AMG A 45 by the instructors, demonstrating both cars to their full power. The participants were also able to experience some of the latest car models such as the C-Class Coupé, E-Class, CLA Coupé, CLA Shooting Brake and the SLC.
