Inside, Lexus has retained its usual ultra-plush interior quality coupled with a redesigned passenger space to provide a sense of spaciousness. Soft, elegant shapes and materials have also been used in areas often in contact with passengers, to further the sense of luxury within the cabin. The seats have also been designed with an ergonomic touch including a lowered seating position up front and rounded cushion corners for ease of entry and better pressure distribution for pelvic support. A lowered floor surface in the rear foot well also facilitates LS like seating posture.

Technology has not been omitted by Lexus – in keeping with the competition the RX features an enlarged Heads-Up Display (now 12.3” from 8”) as well as a world-first power tailgate with emblem sensor. That is, you put your hand at the Lexus logo on the tailgate and it magically opens. Seats also fold down at the rear electrically, with a 60:40 split for added practicality.

Lexus introduced the new RX Turbo with the 2.0l turbocharged engine first seen on the NX during the launch. With an output of 234 bhp and 350 Nm, the car fits in quite well with its traditional rivals from Germany.

Also available from Q1 2016 are the popular RX 350 featuring an upgraded 3.5l V6 with power bumped to 296 bhp (up by almost 20 bhp) mated to a new 8-speed automatic gearbox as well as the RX Hybrid. Turbo 2.0l models come with a 6 speed gearbox while Hybrids are equipped with CVTs. The hybrid merges the V6 with an electric motor to generate 308 bhp and a CEVS rebate of $5,000. All models come with all-wheel drive except for the base Executive trim on the RX Turbo.

Prices start at $276,000 (accurate as at 27 Nov 2015) for the Luxury variant of the RX 200t.
