After we got the driving instructors convinced we’re not all ham-fisted drivers, we were allowed on the track painted onto the CEC tarmac. This time, we were let loose in the slightly less powerful but no less thrilling F-type V6 Supercharged. Despite being more than a 100 ponies down on its larger sibling, the V6S was no less agile and responsive within the confines of the track. It was here we discovered the well weighted steering despite the electric rack. Turn in was smooth and accurate and the driving position made it a cinch to place the car precisely.

The F-type V6S has excellent 50:50 weight distribution and on the short confined track, it shows. The car flows easily from corner to corner and allows plenty of leeway for less experienced drivers to claw back from their errors.

With the benchmark set, we moved on to the other XF and XJ models that despite their large limousine dimensions, still provided quite a bit of fun on the track. Towards the edge of its grip, the XF is a fun sprightly sedan. The chassis is progressive in the way it loses grip and allows you plenty of time to bring it back lest you fling it into a drift of which it is well and truly capable of doing.

Conclusion

All in all, the track experience was a great way of experiencing the Jaguar range in a safe and controlled environment that allowed us to find the limits of these awesome machines.

Despite their stately executive design, the XF and XJ hide a dynamic prowess not often seen in their class.
