I lived a day as a REFASH delivery driver with the SRM T3EV

I didn’t mind it with the SRM T3EV, which made it effortless and actually enjoyable to do.

If I knew anything about running a business, the T3EV would certainly be right up my radar for a transport vehicle.

What better way to test a lorry than to actually move something with it, right? For our review, click here. But for the real-world hauling test, read on.

We decided to make use of the capabilities of the SRM T3EV by helping our friends at REFASH to move some clothes and a display logo from a shopping mall back to our headquarters.

For those who don’t know, REFASH is Singapore’s largest thrift store that has processed over 7 million pieces of clothing that would otherwise have ended up in landfills. It’s also owned by Carousell.

So by using an electric lorry (very mindful, very demure?) to move preloved clothing, and therefore doing the environmentally sustainable thing two-fold, I must have offset all of the Co2 I have emitted test driving dozens upon dozens of new cars this year. If I needed a reason to help REFASH, this would be a pretty darn good one.

So I guess it is down to getting the job done now. The first step would be to open the rear lid of the T3EV to access the deck. This is simply dead easy; just unhinge some levers and access is granted.

Thanks to the reasonable height of the deck, piling on those bags of clothes and the display logo was not as back-breaking as I imagined it to be. Of course, we didn’t have a full assignment to fill up the deck that day. But I would imagine that the T3EV would easily swallow up 30-40 or so bags before it would claim to be fully loaded.

Off we went to the REFASH HQ. What I find remarkable is how clean and fuss-free the whole process is. I’d be smelling diesel fumes and hearing the drone of the diesel engine the whole journey in a conventional lorry. In the T3EV it was simply serene in comparison. I guess with better mental health, a driver could theoretically and plausibly be more productive.

When we arrived, we offloaded the goods and rolled it up to the REFASH office. It was a painless process, and before we knew it, it was all done and dusted. I’m impressed with the T3EV’s effortless way of getting work done. If I knew anything about running a business, the T3EV would certainly be right up my radar for a transport vehicle.
