2023 saw a slew of exciting car launches, from high performance hatches, sport wagons, and of course, electric vehicles. 2024 looks set to continue building on that momentum, with 22 new cars launched at the Singapore Motorshow, as well as plenty of offerings to cater to a wide spectrum of buyers.

Read about some models that caught our attention, in alphabetical order:

Audi Q4 e-tron Sportback

The all-new Audi Q4 e-tron sportback is set to arrive on our shores later this year. Built on Volkswagen’s MEB platform, the Q4 e-tron is powered by a 77kWh battery that generates a healthy 286bhp and 545Nm of torque. An impressive range of 544km and 0-100 time of 5.4 seconds makes this a very compelling offering indeed. To top it off, the Q4 e-tron will be priced under S$170k (before COE).

BMW X1 M35i xDrive

For the petrolheads who desire a compact, performance utility vehicle, BMW has launched the new X1 M35i xDrive. This compact sports utility vehicle is powered by a new 2.0 litre engine with an optimised oil supply system and main bearing shells and caps carried over from BMW’s latest generation six-cylinder engines. All that translates to 296bhp and a century sprint time of 5.4 seconds, with peak torque of 400Nm on tap from just 2,000 rpm.

Hyundai Ioniq 5N

Possibly our favorite electric vehicle of the lot at the Singapore Motor Show—the Hyundai Ioniq 5N is essentially, the well-adored Ioniq 5 on steroids. Flared wheel arches, aggressive front and rear fascia, wider tyres and of course, 650hp on tap—need we say more? The Ioniq 5N is expected to be on sale in Singapore from the second half of 2024. We cannot wait to get behind the wheel of one!

Lexus LBX

The Lexus LBX compact crossover has been launched in Singapore as the brand’s first-ever Cat A COE model. The car is powered by a frugal 1.5 litre three-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor, generating a total system output of 129hp. Think of this as a premium Toyota Yaris Cross—what’s not to love?

Mercedes EQG Concept

The highlight of this year’s Singapore Motor Show has to be the Mercedes EQG Concept. Based on the G-Class SUV, the EQG will retain the iconic design cues of the G-Class and boast uncompromising off-road qualities. The vehicle’s commanding presence is accentuated by futuristic-looking illuminated grilles and accent lights, making it quite a sight to behold. This is also the South-east Asian preview of the EQG Concept, with the production variant set to arrive on our shores as early as this year.
