Audi Performance + Efficiency
New Audi A5 3.0 TDI packs high performance and efficiency into a classic sporty coupe.
Audi's cars are produced on the basis of a modular efficiency system. This holistic approach takes account of all CO2-related factors, including engine and drive concepts, aerodynamics, body technology, and electronic assistance systems. The system combines reduced consumption with great drivability and outstanding sportiness.
Carl remarked: "Audi's always had an all-embracing approach to environmental sustainability. We need to be pragmatic: while electric cars may well be the way of the future, they are not a solution for today. The best estimates show that even by 2020 only 10% of all cars are likely to be fully electric. I see diesel and hybrid technology as providing a bridge to the future of mobility in Singapore. Audi's TDI technology gives hybrid-level efficiency with supreme performance."
Last year around 60% of all Audi's sold in Europe were TDI models. The TDI engine, the most successful diesel efficiency technology in the world, has an inimitable string of victories under its belt: winning Le Mans 24 Hours in 2006, 2007 and 2008, and achieving a podium finish in 2009. Audi has been incorporating key findings from the world of motorsport directly into seriesproduction development. This is testament to how TDI represents the ultimate in efficiency, driving pleasure and economy both on the road, and on the racetrack.
Audi has improved the efficiency of its cars by over a third during the last 20 years, and aims to reduce the emissions of its vehicles by a further 20% by 2012.
