There’s no free lunch, but if you know where to park, there very much is free lunchtime parking. Food and beverage may be expensive in and around the CBD, but your wallet can heave a sigh of relief in the knowledge that not the entire CBD experience has to cost you and arm or a leg! In fact, if you’re willing to walk a short distance to your destination, you can actually park free of charge at quite a number of places. Here’s 5!

5. City Square Mall

Technically speaking City Square Mall isn’t in the CBD. But, especially by car, it is but a mere stone’s throw away. There are many eateries scattered in its vicinity, and the mall itself offers a fair share of entertainment and dining options as well. Bag your free parking spot on weekdays from 12pm to 2pm, though be warned that you can only enjoy this offer for the first 1.5 hours. Free parking is not available on public holidays.

4. Gardens by the Bay (Bay South Car Parks only)

Treat your mind and body to some fresh air! If you’re sick of that stale office air, consider heading over to Gardens by the Bay. You can have some peace and quiet, reconnect with nature, and even pop by one of the eating establishments for a quick meal. Parking, but only for the Bay South Car Parks, is free on weekdays from 12pm to 2pm.

3. Clarke Quay

Clarke Quay is probably the café capital of Singapore. Botique eateries have sprung up all over, serving a wide variety of cuisine that have one thing in common – a fairly hefty price tag. Unless you’re headed to a fast food chain of your choice, chances are that you’ll have to fork out quite a chunk of change for lunch here. Thankfully, you can park your car for free at Clarke Quay from Mondays to Fridays, from 12:30pm to 1:29pm.

2. Dempsey Hill

Dempsey Hill is synonymous with affluence. Fine dining restaurants saturate the tenancy, making it a lunch spot for those you have the cash to splash, or simply for those who feel that they’ve earned a nice meal. Pros of dining at Dempsey Hill? You’ll spend all of your lunch budget on the food, as parking is free not only for lunch, but the entire day, every single day of the year!

1. Singapore Flyer

As with most of the other options mentioned in this list, free parking is used to lure lunchtime crowds to places where food may be a little pricey. Sure, there are many restaurants at the Singapore Flyer, some offering rather fantastic views of the Marina Bay area. However, by foot, and quite a short stroll at that, Millenia Walk, Marina Square and Suntec City are within reach, with a whole host of affordable dining options. Also as per most of the other offerings, parking is free from 12pm to 2pm, excluding weekends and public holidays!
