The 6th edition of the Singapore Motorshow will be held on the 9th to the 12th of January 2020! Car manufacturers and their respective dealers are using it as a platform to unveil some of their new-to-Singapore, or perhaps even new-to-asia, models. From staples on our roads, to legendary revived classics, and from high-performance hybrids to futuristic electric EVs, there seems to be something for every kind of petrolhead. Here are 5 cars we look forward to seeing at the show!

5. Toyota Corolla Altis

The Corolla Altis is possible one of the most recognisable nameplates in Singapore and is a true staple on our roads. The latest iteration will be "properly" (there are already a few examples plying our streets as we speak) unveiled to the public for the first time at the motorshow, and it will sport an all new interior, a full suite of safety features such as Pre-Collision Safety, Lane Departure Warning with Steering Assistant, Auto High-Beam and Blindspot Monitoring System.

The biggest revision is to the exterior of the car, with Toyota choosing to incorporate almost-baby-Lexus-esque design cues, making it look significantly more premium than its predecessors!

4. Audi e-tron

The Audi e-tron is Audi’s first foray into electrification. Despite its mass and size, it still is capable of a 0-100km/h time of just 5.7 seconds, courtesy of its twin electric motors that put out a combined 400bhp. There are distinct touches to separate the e-tron from other offerings in the Audi range, virtual side mirrors, that use cameras and screens instead of glass for example, but generally the car is unmistakably from the German marque. Not that that’s a bad thing, as the switchgear Audi usually uses in their cars are of a really high quality anyways!

3.
Porsche Cayenne Coupe

The SUV market is showing no signs of slowing. Every manufacturer wants a slice of this highly lucrative pie, and have the produced many different variants of their traditional SUVs in a bid to get potential clients to put one on their drives. Porsche is the latest manufacturer locally to join the fray, launching their competitor to BMW's X6 and Mercedes' GLE.

Apart from the new sloping roofline, expect the car to share most of it's running gear and panels with the regular Cayenne. That means you can option yours with a wide range of V6 and V8s from the VW-Audi group, available with forced induction and/or hybrid assistance. In the right spec, the Cayenne Coupe can prove to be a legitimate, and faster, alternative to some of its more expensive platform-shared models!

2. Volvo S60 T8 Plug-in Hybrid R-Design

This particular variant of the latest S60 may have a lengthy name, but it has an equally-long spec list to match. It combines a turbocharged and supercharged 2.0 litre 4-pot sending around 300bhp to the front axle, and an electric motor on the rear axle that pushes out around 100bhp, for a combined total of 400bhp and all-wheel drive. Unlike most PHEVs, the system in the S60 has been designed primarily for more performance. Any improvements in fuel economy in regular driving is just a much-welcomed added bonus!

1. Land Rover Defender

The Singapore Motorshow is your first opportunity locally to check out the refreshed Defender. We've all known that the Jaguar-Land Rover engineers have been working on their response to Mercedes' own refreshed G-wagen for a couple of years now, but their stab at making a modern intepretation of an equally classic nameplate really only broke cover earlier this year.

The new car has big shoes to fill; it definitely has the DNA of the classic, and you can expect it to be an excellent offroader as well. However, the old car's reputation for being a dependable, no-nonsense, go-anywhere 4x4, coupled with its rugged exterior, means that it has legions of fans the world over. Can this new model really win over the hearts of the classic Defender enthusiasts?

Can’t wait for the show? Or perhaps the latest iterations of your favourite car models aren’t cutting it for you? Consider browsing our used car listings – our extensive platform means you’ll probably find something that will suit your budget and taste!
