Yuey Tan is one of Singapore’s most recognizable faces on the race circuit. He isn’t new to the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia races and has been a regular face since his rookie year in 2009 (He was racing a few rounds in final leg of the previous year).

Speaking with a quirky accent that alters between Singaporean and Australian, the jovial 31 year old discovered his passion for racing while studying in Queensland.

In his first year, the rookie finished 11th out of 20. None too shabby for what was still a new driver. Yuey went on to improve on that result in his second year. Finishing 7th overall in the series.

But his most notable achievement wasn’t found on track but on the runway. In 2009, the young driver made history by being the first local driver to go up against a full fledged Jumbo Jet on the Changi Airport runway. It was an exciting spectacle which ended with a race victory for Yuey and his 911 Carrera Cup car.

Other than racing, Yuey is heavily involved with developing the local motorsports scene by being the ambassador for the Singapore Karting Championship. He is also the racing expert on hand to guide new karters at the Changi Karting Circuit.
