Volvo's big sedan gets some enhancements, and we tried it out just to see how things can get better with this Swede. Can it be a car to threaten the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class still? Well, Justin sampled it and here's his take...

What we like:

Improved engine very much welcomed

Exterior still makes it less noticeable on the road

additional chrome trimmings remain questionable

The Volvo S80 is a car that is honest about its abilities. A handsomely styled car, it does many things that buyers in this segment want - which is a comfortable cabin, a cosseting ride and a powerful engine. So, going down the alternative route - in this car's case - may not be such a bad decision after all.

But the fuel consumption is still a bit of a worry...
