What we like:
pros
Feels more taut than the Golf R
pros
fantastic from a front wheel drive chassis
pros
strong mid-range punch
pros
more affordable than the Golf R
What we dislike:
cons
Detuned from the European version
cons
not as practical as the Golf
cons
lesser Sciroccos are a dime a dozen

It's standard Scirocco fare at the rear, which means seating strictly for two, but both headroom and legroom can hardly be considered to be sufficient for the average sized adult. Those who regularly have passengers in the rear will be better off with a Golf R.

At first thought, one might think that the Scirocco R is a redundant model as Volkswagen is already offering the more practical and four-wheel drive Golf R here. The Scirocco R though, arguably looks better than the Golf R, is more affordable and more driver focused. The Golf R then, is for those who want an effortlessly fast and yet comfortable hot hatch while the Scirocco R is for enthusiasts who want a more driver focused car.
