At its current price of $144,988 with COE however, the Camry Hybrid's $21k premium over the 2.4-litre petrol model might sound like quite a lot of money but given that it is better equipped than the standard car with accoutrements such as ventilated seats and keyless operation among other things. Also, factor in the difference in fuel savings and the price premium will start paying for itself within two years if you clock lots of miles.

The Camry Hybrid's biggest challenge however, is that this sensible-shoes car is priced in the territory of sexier alternatives such as the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class that offer better drivability and represent the entry point to luxury car ownership.
While driving the Camry Hybrid may make a stronger environmental, rather than fashion statement over the compact executive sedans, the more affordable and stylish Prius does a better job of bridging the divide by not looking like you borrowed your dad's car.

So who is the Camry Hybrid for then? It is for those who want more space than the latter alternatives and perhaps, a hybrid car for all the right reasons.
