Skoda Enyaq Coupé RS Review: Big and Bold
The Enyaq Coupé’s sporty counterpart offers more interaction, go-faster bits and if you wish, very loud paintwork.
Skoda’s RS badge is made for the Q-car, or the sort of under-the-radar vehicle that wouldn’t give away anything about its sporting prowess. Back when I had a Volkswagen MkV Golf GTI, the Skoda Octavia vRS Combi was the car you would choose if you needed more space for similar money and didn’t really want your wife to know it also had the same engine as the Golf GTI.
How has Skoda RS changed?
RS has evolved quite a bit since then, and is now adorning the sportiest Enyaq Coupé you can buy in Singapore today. Finished in Phoenix Orange and sporting an illuminated front grille that boasts 131 LEDs, I think you could not be any louder in a Skoda.
How much horsepower does a Skoda Enyaq Coupé RS have?
But one might as well make a statement about it, because the Enyaq Coupé RS has 335 hp and 545 Nm, enough firepower to put even Skoda’s most powerful models in the shade, blistering from 0-100 km/h in 5.5 seconds (a whole 1.2 seconds quicker than the standard Enyaq Coupé) while keeping range at a very respectable 547 km (WLTP combined).
How fast is the Skoda Enyaq Coupé RS?
Yes, it’s quick, and your mind would process it with a bit of unbelief as you contrast it with the Enyaq Coupé RS’ bulky and imposing shape. Its rims have been uprated to 21-inch in size, so coupled with sports suspension, it somewhat degrades the good ride we experienced in the standard Enyaq. But what are you expecting, it’s a RS after all. You get progressive steering as well as all-wheel drive from the dual motors, so there’s more heft to the steering and huge reserves of grip. It is physics, rather than capability, that would hold the Enyaq Coupé RS back from being a true sports car.
Is the Skoda Enyaq Coupé RS practical?
The upshot is that you get generous space for five people and hardly compromised boot space even with the swoopy roofline (570 litres, 15 litres less than in the Enyaq).
Everyone would be feeling in the mood for speed with the interior now all decked out in carbon decor, black headliner and sports seats festooned with the RS logo.
However, my peace-loving nature misses the Scandinavian style interior in the standard Enyaq. Also, the panoramic sunroof is impressively huge, but there is no retractable shade to shield you from the sun when it gets too hot.
Why should I consider the Skoda Enyaq Coupé RS?
Look, here’s the deal. For roughly the same price point as an entry-level Audi Q4 e-tron, you can get more power and grip in the Enyaq Coupé RS, which is an interesting proposition for someone who craves for more power. The package is less Q-car now, but value still very much remains.
