Saab 9-3 Sportcombi 2.8 V6 Turbo Aero XWD Review: WhaaaSaab?!

It may be quirky and long in the tooth, but there's just something about Saabs that gets our attention.  We took the XWD-equipped 9-3 SportCombi out and came away wishing we could drive it in the snow...

What we like:
pros
Strong mid-range pulling power
pros
practical estate form is very flexible
pros
the surefootedness of the XWD system.
What we dislike:
cons
Buttons and switches from Chevrolet
cons
door locks feel cheap
cons
steering wheel could be smaller and a bit meatier.

Beneath the Saab's one-of-a-kind looks is a car worth getting to know. Its styling might not cater to the mainstream crowd, but there's something undeniably attractive to us about its quirkiness. Just like a cute but nerdy girl whose nose twitches when she giggles.

And in its functional SportCombi form, this particular 9-3 is easily our numero uno choice for a long drive up North.

We're not sure if Saab would be willing to loan it to us for our upcoming road trips in the coming months, but we're definitely keeping our fingers crossed!
