In theory, the RCZ offers a 2+2 interior but I can’t fathom which average sized adult will ever feel comfortable for more than two minutes in the rear as there is a severe lack of headroom for rear occupants. Thankfully though, the RCZ fares much better up front, offering enough headroom and a relatively comfortable driving position (bar the placement of the foot pedals).

The RCZ’s dashboard is shared with the basic 308 models, which is not really a bad thing as it is made of soft touch plastics and decent switchgear. To spice things up in the RCZ, Peugeot’s interior designers have incorporated an analogue clock between the centre air vents while the instruments are given a carbon fibre look for the main dials.

While automatic models usually cost more than an equivalent model with a manual gearbox, the 200bhp RCZ manual actually costs roughly $6k more than the 156bhp automatic model. For this $6k more, one will get an additional 44 horsepower, 35Nm of torque, an even sexier looking RCZ and last but not least, an even more engaging and rewarding drive. Just don’t tell this to Class 3A license holders…
