Mitsubishi Triton Review: Crikey! The Return of Triton!
Well, as much "offroad" in Singapore that is. We had some fun in the mud with this venerable turbodiesel workhorse that we only wish, could be cheaper in terms of government taxes.

Back on dry tarmac, and it suddenly doesn’t seem as much fun anymore. I have to stick to the left lane, cruise at a snail’s pace of 70km/h, and above all, I had to control myself from kicking that annoying speed warning buzzer!
When I do get to that middle lane to overtake, I have to make sure that the deed is done fast enough in order to not let the boys in white spot me. Thankfully the Triton does this decently, and quickly enough.
Thank heavens that the well-sorted audio system was loud enough to overpower that speed limiter beep. That same multi function readout also monitors your petrol consumption and more importantly, your angle of pitch and other readouts necessitated while off-road, placed strategically in the centre of the dashboard.
The exterior no doubt has that “love or loathe” appearance. However, without any doubt it has THE rugged edge over its competition, hell, maybe even over its Pajero sibling!
The Triton is an award winning multi tasker. It is a vehicle suited to those living the rugged lifestyle, and the answer to the businessman who might need lots of moving around, has a family of five, and knows a world of joy outside the bland SUV or MPV.
After all, the diesel engine has come a long way, and in the 21st century, it can be said to be every bit as as good as a petrol engine, not to mention cheaper to top up by the litre too.
Sadly, the Triton can only be registered here as a goods vehicle. Imagine the number of Tritons we’ll be seeing on the roads, if it were otherwise. By the way, every single bloke I’ve met while reviewing the Triton drooled at it endlessly.
