Safety is high on the new E-Class’ agenda. It comes with safety aids like ATTENTION ASSIST (which is represented by a coffee cup symbol on the LCD display in the instrument cluster), NECK-PRO head restraints, Brake Assist, ESP, a plethora of airbags and so on.

You certainly pay a premium to have the three-pointed star proudly sitting on your bonnet. At $196,888. the four-cylinder E250 CGI is more pricey than six-cylinder rivals like the Lexus GS300 while it matches the 3-litre Jaguar XF and the BMW 525i for price. But none of the abovementioned cars offer a feel as solid and reassuring as the E-Class.
