Inside, the new model actually features a heavily tweaked interior rather than just minor changes and alterations to trim and so on like most mid-life facelifts. The biggest and most noticeable change in the cabin is undoubtedly E-class inspired dashboard that Mercedes says makes the cabin look and feel wider to occupants.

The LCD screen for the COMAND infotainment system now sits under the same cowling as the instruments and there are new instruments and a new multi-function display for an even more sophisticated look. Other changes include new air-vents with rounded ones on the sides, new inlays on the dash, some new switchgear as well as a rather sporty looking new three-spoke steering wheel. The new multi-function colour display within the instruments is not only easier to read at a glance but also displays graphics to greet you as you enter the cabin.

Utility has also improved with the new model. There are now storage compartments under the front seats, a sunglasses compartment on the driver's side and so on. The cabin is not lacking in the build quality and perceived luxury departments thanks to the use of high quality switchgear and soft touch surfaces for the dashboard.

Safety is high on the new C-Class's agenda. In addition to the usual safety kit, the new model comes with additional safety aids like ATTENTION ASSIST (which is represented by a coffee cup symbol on the LCD display in the instrument cluster), NECK-PRO head restraints as well as active safety kit like Brake Assist, ESP and so on. Also standard on the range of new C-Class models is Bluetooth handsfree interface for mobile phones.

The mid-range C250 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY once again proves that Mercedes' compact executive offers what is probably the most all-rounded package among its competitors. The updated model features tweaks and changes that make the C even more complete and convincing than ever and hence, further boost its chances against its strong competitors.
