Kia Sportage 2.0 SX Review: Sport On

The new Sportage is a sharp looking SUV on the outside but the big question is -does it have the substance to match its looks?

cons
engine sounds gruff when worked hard

The Sportage comes in two trim levels - the base EX and the high spec SX tested here. The base EX model isn't exactly shabbily equipped as it comes standard with cruise control, factory audio with USB and iPod connectivity, twin airbags, 17-inch wheels and so on.

For an additional $8k over the EX, the SX comes with extra kit like keyless operation, LED daytime running lights, dual zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, roof rack, ESP, electric adjustments for the driver's seat, 18-inch alloys shod with 235,55 R18 tyres, six-disc CD changer, tan leather trim and so on.

With a well equipped and reasonably priced package that is not only good looking inside and out but hugely competent in many other areas, the Sportage will be a tempting alternative to most of the more expensive mid-sized Japanese crossover SUVs.
