Kia Sorento EX 2.4 Review: Less Is More
The Kia Sorento loses its all-wheel drive drivetrain and a couple of cylinders but it's all for the better.
Just like the Cerato Forte and Forte Koup, the new Sorento is a great proposition when it comes to value and standard kit. The base EX model here come with electric folding side mirrors, 17-inch alloys, factory fitted stereo with USB and iPod connectivity (iPhone users can charge their phones with this) and steering wheel mounted controls, sporty chrome foot pedals, keyless entry and operation, dual zone climate control, twin airbags, cruise control and auto headlamps.
The high spec SX model will set you back a further $10k but you get even more kit with it including HID headlamps, LED tail lamps, roof rails, rear spoiler, bigger wheels, rear parking sensors, electrical adjustments for the driver’s seat, third-row air-con vents, side and curtain airbags, electronic stability control, twin sunroof and so on.
The Sorento’s closest rivals will be other closely priced seven-seater SUVs like the Chevrolet Captiva, Toyota Fortuner and the Hyundai Santa Fe. The Kia is much better equipped than the abovementioned models and other than the woeful steering and the questionable styling, it’s hard not to be impressed by the new Sorento.
