What we like:
pros
Long list of equipment and spacious interior.
What we dislike:
cons
Loss of its sleek exterior lines.

Powered by a 171 bhp 2.4-litre Earth Dreams motor, the Odyssey will have more than enough grunt to pull its own weight and then some. There’s also a decent amount of torque (225Nm) to propel it to 100kmh in 11.5 seconds up to a top speed of 196kmh.

During our drive, we found the engine tractable even with a full load of passengers. It drives smoothly without much engine noise intruding into the cabin when driven sensibly. However it does get quite agricultural when given the beans which is typical of CVTs.

Like most MPVs, the Odyssey is tuned with a firmer suspension for carrying heavier loads which might result in a slightly bumpier ride when driven alone. But with a full load of passengers, the ride is noticeably more pliant. Equipped with an electric rack, the steering is linear throughout its range but lacks any sort of feel.

Conclusion

For a long time the Odyssey has differentiated itself from the rest of the MPV crowd with its car-like design. But in a time where space is ace, it has adapted brilliantly with this latest platform.

And to help potential buyers cope with the loss of its sleek looks, the new car comes fully loaded with automated parking, 360 degree cameras and a multitude of equipment.
