Chrysler 300C 3.6 V6 Review: Standing tall

With much needed updates, the 300C suddenly turned into a much worthy alternative

What we like:
pros
Remarkable road presence
pros
smooth 8-speed transmission
pros
lovely V6 growl
What we dislike:
cons
A little large for most local carparks
cons
you do feel the weight
cons
driving position needs getting used to

Understeer is well resolved in all but the tightest corners and there’s plenty of grip, although body-roll could be better checked. The usual electronic stability and traction armoury helps, but does its work covertly.

The brakes are terrific – I stepped out of this 300C with a smile on my face.

So the Chrysler 300C is a definitive alternative to the GS 350, M37 and 535i. In its favour are price, size, driving refinement and a surprisingly spacious and well-sorted interior.

Not in its favour? Unfortunately the badge – unless it has a Japanese or German badge, local drivers won’t take to it like hot cakes.

Still, if you really want value for money, a unique and refined luxury sedan, then you cannot go wrong with the latest 300C. But if you still can’t get over the badge, then think of it as this: you’re paying Lexus GS250 price for LS460 portion, 520i money for 730 Li size…
