BMW X6 xDrive 35i Review: The other X
Something has just gone screaming past you on the expressway and it looks like an unassuming SUV. With the blue propeller badge and an outlook of a coupe, you're not sure of what it is. But you're pretty sure it's an SUV...or is it?

The X6 might come as gimmicky, a bit of cynical marketing and pricy. But it’s all good.
When making a purchase involving a sum of money this much, everyone’s aware that the heart often overrides the head. Hence, if image matters a lot, the X6 should be able to compliment your self-image. Go in peace with your choice and no one should have a problem with that – especially if you get this mildly-entertaining, driver-oriented X6. Carve aside its little imperfections, and we guarantee, you won’t regret having it. Cos’ there’s nothing else in the market that’s like it.
Well, if this isn’t enough for you and you’re very much willing to cough out more cash for more firepower, fret not as there’s the more powerful xDrive50i. With a gutful 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 lump under the hood, it’s good for a healthy dose of 407 horses and 600Nm worth of torque. And mated to a 6-speed automatic, it will catapult you from nought to 100km/h in less than 6 seconds. We’re not sure when this variant will make it here, but last we checked, it should be here by early 2009.
And get this straight – in the words of BMW, it’s a Sports Activity Coupe (SAV)…Not SUV, not SUMPV, not MPSUV.
