Audi TT Roadster 2.0 TFSI S-tronic Review: Less is More
The 2011 TT Roadster is updated with a new engine that has more power and torque but is yet more economical. Raymond Lai checks it out.
The TT Roadster's pretty exterior is matched by its beautifully crafted cabin. The interior not only looks good thanks to its intricate design details but feels good as well with perceived luxury and the use of high quality materials and switchgear playing their parts for the latter. Disappointingly though, Audi stopped using the superb baseball glove like stitching for the leather seats as used in the first generation topless TT.
The flat-bottomed steering wheel is fantastic to hold and the driving position is just about perfect. Carried over from the first generation model are the round air vents with their cool-looking alloy surrounds. The boot is flat and well-shaped but is a tad shallow for carrying larger items. The updated model sees no major changes to its interior with only some minor updates to the trim and new special treatment for the leather seats to reduce thermal heating by as much as 20 degrees when the car is parked in the sun. Unlike its coupe sibling, the Roadster is a strict two-seat model which means you won't be able to squeeze two mates at the rear on short drives.
The changes to the base model TT might be minimal externally but factors like the extra performance and improved efficiency will certainly retain the TT's status as one of the most desirable premium sports coupe and Roadster in the market.
